Genre Film Festival Panic Fest is Back for its 10th Year
Panic Fest, a festival for fans of all things genre, is back again for 2023.
Founded in 2013 by Screenland Theater and Downright Creepy, the festival is kicking off its 10th year in Kansas City.
You don't have to travel to Missouri, though, to experience all the joy that Panic Fest has to offer. Many titles are available to purchase for home streaming, making it an easy way to support genre filmmakers and their unique, creative projects, no matter where you are in the world.
Over 100 films will be screened this year, including big-name studio projects "Evil Dead Rise" from Warner Bros., "Renfield" from Universal Pictures and "Medusa Deluxe" from A24. Fans of horror and sci-fi will find a wide variety of indie films, too, and the thrill of discovery is one of the most rewarding and fun parts of Panic Fest each year. You can find a link to the lineup with titles and descriptions at the end of this article.
Panic Fest is one of my personal favorite film festivals because they place equal importance on short films and not just feature length projects. This is a great way to check out new and exciting filmmakers in bite-sized sittings, and the fest provides a platform for unique, creative voices with visionary stories to tell. It's clear why Panic Fest is quickly becoming one of the most respected genre festivals around the globe.
Major companies and studios have taken notice too. Some of the Fest's major sponsors this year include heavy-hitters like Lionsgate, A24, Shudder, Dark Star Pictures, Universal, Fangoria, Bloody Disgusting, and Dark Sky Films, just to name drop a few.
Panic Fest runs April 13-19 in person and April 14-23 online through Eventive. Passes can be purchased online. Pass options include a Hybrid Pass for $205 (allows the user to see films online and in-person), and an Online Only Pass for $135 (gives access to stream films online only). Individual tickets are $15.
